SUSTAINABILITY
At Segment Company, every project that we undertake is designed with sustainability in mind. Infrastructure is crucial for development and for providing services to people. From transport systems to power-generation facilities, and water and sanitation networks, it provides the services that enable society to function and economies to thrive. Infrastructure is at the heart of our efforts to adhere to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
SUSTAINABILITY IS OUR WATCHWORD

We do not view infrastructure as an individual asset, such as a roadway, but as part of a system of assets that have the potential to provide the three piers of SDGs which are environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
We do everything that we can to make minimal impact on the environment and reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. We keep air travel to a minimum and hold meetings by Zoom. We use green materials in our projects wherever we can.

As regards the economy, our contracts provide jobs for workers in construction and ongoing maintenance. Work on roadways, transportation, and telecommunications connect communities and help towards national economic goals. Jim Hall, Professor of Climate and Environmental Risk at the University of Oxford says: “When systems and projects are being conceived of, that’s where critical consideration of needs – who needs what from infrastructure and who gets it – and the equity dimensions of infrastructure come in”. At Segment Company, everything that we do centres on the environment, economic advantages, and the benefits to society at large.
One of the most important aspects of infrastructure is resilience. In order to be sustainable, infrastructure must be able to withstand the shocks and stresses that it will inevitably be subject to and become less vulnerable to disruption and extreme events. At Segment Company, we build to last.
